cabrio saison 2009

10.03.2009

inspired by the workshop i attended last month, today i used white wensleydale wool for a scarf. it felted easily and i am looking forward for tomorrow, when i will see the dry scarf. fotos still to be taken.

today i ordered gotland wool and schappe silk. happy looking forward for the arrival.

labyrinth der fäden / of threads

2.03.2009

beginning with the current issue of „verfilzt und zugenäht“, sarah lechner starts a mysterious game. i read the article at least twice. and all i know is: it will be a creative game. a journey full of phantasy is expecting the participants.

the building site could be a one shade fabric of e.g. din a 4 (ca. 21 * 29,5 cm). for a first idea i prepared a gauge and computed the size for a felted piece in … white!

i am looking forward to the next issue (in 3 months!) to reveal a little more about the mysterious labyrinth :-)

color can wait

23.02.2009

after attending last weeks workshop (see below) i realized it is good to improve my felting skills and concentrate on shape. color? color may come later. for now, all sorts of black and white will do. it is best to practice all the different felting methods and tricks without fighting at the color front. different wools, thickness, with nuno or without, adding silk fibers, curls, yarns, other materials … challenges enough for me. how to create very thin but lasting tissues, sturdy parts for a bag, scarves for summer, objects for the table or living room … there are so many adventures ahead.

white and black
this last week i made several parts just from black and white. did some small trial parts. silk merino trial in white

as i like to wear black and white it is a natural choice for me to start with. they are my favorite colors. eyeglases case

what comes next?

  • i have to sew up several parts i made for bag
  • make a strap for a second bag (that i made for myself)
  • try out the wensleydale white fiber
  • use the very fine white merino fleece i received a couple of weeks ago.
  • order new white and black merino wool
